I know this project won’t make sense to most people, but I’ll put it up anyways. I taught myself to sing over the past ten years. It was always frustrating when I couldn’t hit notes, but I discovered that if I sang into specific areas of my body, I could hit the note.

So I started listening to songs by different artists and seeing which chakra center the lyrics were being sung in (i.e. where I felt them in my body). A few things happened… I found that I could hit all the notes and tune into the emotions of the song better when I focused on the “chakra key” instead of the musical “song key”. I also found that for pop songs — the more popular the song/artist, the more I felt the lyrics in my heart chakra.

For example, when I tuned into the acoustic version of James Arthur’s song - Say You Won’t Let Go below, there was a huge chunk of the song that I felt in my heart chakra, but when I listened to a different version of him singing the same song, I couldn’t feel the song in my heart chakra and that usually correlated to a flat performance of a popular song. My theory is that a lot of pop songs/artists become popular because they possess an ability to sing into their heart chakra and have listeners around the world feel that in their bodies even if they are not consciously aware of it.

The most interesting thing I observed was when I tried to sing different popular songs in my heart chakra. It was painful. I was hitting the notes and emoting in the same way the original artist had done, but it like literally it felt like my chest was on fire and like all the really painful emotions began to surface. I couldn’t handle it, so I stopped trying. But I was left to wonder if the “IT” factor that made so many artists popular was this invisible ability to sing into their heart chakra or sing into all their chakras like a pinball machine in a single song (e.g. Whitney Houston, Beyonce), while this was too painful for other artists or they could only sing into one (usually the throat chakra) or two chakras (e.g. Rihanna sings mostly in the throat and third eye chakras)

Like I said, this all probably won’t make sense if you 1) Are a traditionally trained singer, 2) don’t know about chakra energy centers or 3) have never had the experience of feeling where the sensation is happening in your body when you’re listening to a song or singing song lyrics. But here’s a few Chakra Song Charts I came up with.
